Frequently Asked Questions
How hot does a heating element get?
High-performance models can reach a jacket temperature of up to 750 °C. The actual temperature depends on the power density, installation conditions, and heat dissipation.
Can heating elements be shortened or cut to size?
No. Cutting or making structural changes is not permitted. Silicone heating mats must not be cut to size under any circumstances.
What size hole does a ground heating element require?
The cartridges have a negative tolerance of approximately 0.02 to 0.06 mm. A bore with an H7 fit is recommended to keep the air gap small.
What happens if the operating voltage is out of range?
A lower voltage reduces performance; the target temperature may not be reached. A higher voltage can cause overheating and damage.
What is the proper way to store heating elements?
Dry and dust-free. Otherwise, the insulating material will absorb moisture, causing the insulation resistance to drop. During startup, a startup circuit with reduced power helps allow moisture to outgas.
What factors affect the service life?
Operating temperature, the heating process, mechanical stress, environmental factors, and the design.
